Living appreciations and place attachment – Residential area experiences from Espoo and Lahti

The living appreciations, place attachment and developing ideas of inhabitants living in different types of areas in two Finnish towns, Espoo and Lahti, are explored in the study. The study was carried out by theme interviews which were analyzed by typecasting and theme analysis. Housing values, place attachment and types of inhabitant seems to be more connected with the inhabitants’ life events than to the differences between the residential areas. The social networks are important to all inhabitant types but the members of the network need not necessarily live in the same area or even in the same town.
